Tools I Use To Create Great Content On Social Media

When it comes to crafting a fool-proof social media marketing strategy, it’s not something someone does without a little bit of HELP. Think of a person or a business who you think is absolutely crushing it on social media.

  • Do you think they’re doing it alone? Most likely not.
  • Do you think they’re using tools to get it done? Most definitely.
  • Do you think you’re able to do it too? The answer is always YES!

If you’re wondering how they do it, then you’re in luck. I’m going to share the tools that I personally use now and a few I’ve used in the past to manage my social media accounts – ALL OF THEM. From a person who is currently logged in to 8 different Instagram accounts & connected to 30+ Facebook Business pages, believe me, tools are a social media marketer & small business owner’s best friend.

Content Creation

  • Canon DSLR Camera
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • Lightroom (photo)
  • Canva (photo & video)
  • Splice (video)

When I am taking lifestyle or product photos, if I am not working with a photographer, I utilize my Canon DSLR camera or my iPhone to snap pics. I then rely on Lightroom on my phone/computer to edit photos and apply presets. When it comes to crafting posts + stories for social media, Canva is my go-to. Though I love Photoshop and do use it to create other marketing materials, I use Canva primarily to create new social media content. It’s so easy to use and quick to create great filler + graphic posts. You can easily save your brand colors so you can customize your posts to match your brand, upload images, match your fonts, etc.

Planning Content

  • UNUM
  • Buffer
  • Hootsuite
  • CoSchedule

I have been using UNUM to plan my content for Instagram for years. I love the grid layout so I can see how all of the posts fit together and tell a story through the images, captions, etc. Plus, UNUM allows you to pre-write captions, hashtag lists, etc. and will send you a reminder to post certain things. Buffer, Hootsuite, & CoSchedule all allow you to plan your content out in advance and craft posts that you are getting ready to share. I do prefer the grid layout in UNUM for my fashion + lifestyle blog, but use Buffer primarily when working with clients.

Scheduling/Posting Content

  • UNUM
  • Buffer
  • Hootsuite
  • CoSchedule

Though UNUM has the capability to send reminders when to post your content, it can’t automatically post. When I’m batching content and scheduling it to post automatically, I use Buffer for Instagram and Facebook. You can use their recommended times or schedule posts to publish on the day or time of your choosing. This way I just upload the content, write the caption, include any relevant hashtags, and schedule. I love using this method for clients so I can bulk plan, create, and schedule content in advance. I’ve also used Hootsuite to schedule & publish content as well. They now allow you to automatically publish content, so it’s very similar to Buffer in that sense. CoSchedule is a more advanced tool + marketing suite, but it does allow for direct publishing to Instagram + Facebook + other channels as well.

Analyzing Results

  • UNUM
  • Instagram
  • Buffer Analyze

I use a variety of tools to look at insights and analyze the performance of my social media content. The tool I choose depends on what I am looking for, or what kind of analysis I want to do. If I want to look at high-level and quick insights, I will use the Instagram/Facebook insights, as well as the post insights from UNUM. If I want to dig deeper into post or campaign performance, hashtag performance, and more, I use the Buffer Analyze tool to look at trends over a longer time period.

Organizing My Tasks

  • Asana
  • CoSchedule
  • Daily Planner

With everything going on, I do use a few tools to keep myself organized and on task. Asana is a great tool for managing projects and tasks – I use this for my blog @lifestyledbyleena and @galsthatbrunch related items! I use Asana to set up recurring reminders to post on social media, write blog posts, etc. Though a bit more intense and elaborate depending on what you need it for, I have also used CoSchedule, which is great for a calendar view, managing projects & deliverables, and keeping all of your tasks together in one spot. Monday and Todoist are other tools that you can use to manage your ongoing projects & tasks. Even with all of the digital tools, I also use my physical daily planner to keep me on task each day. I set my Top 3 tasks for the day, as well as schedule projects + tasks to keep me aligned each week.
